Carla Gugino Is All Silk and No Spectre in Real Life

Do you know Carla Gugino? She played a dancer with a gun (and practically nothing else more [left]) in Sin City. She's also the researcher fascinated with the historical Native American girl Sacagawea in Night at the Museum. It's amazing to see her portraying a variety of characters and all of them are believable in more ways than one. What's even more amazing is that she acts and looks differently for each one, and this says a lot about how good she is as an actress.

In Watchmen the movie, Carla Gugino plays Silk (Sally Jupiter) Spectre, an unlikely superhero who in the 1940s with a getup to match. Gugino says her character in Watchmen is a cross between Betty Page and Alberto Vargas. The Betty Page part is obvious, but Alberto Vargas?

The Watchmen characters get to be seen in classic 1940s getups. Compared to their more contemporary wear, these costumes are more appealing in a retro kind of way - with the use of shorts, fishnet stockings, poodle hair, and pastel colors. Yep, straight from a good old cereal box.

Carla Gugino undergoes a transformation in Watchmen - from a 25-year-old heroine to a grandmother in the 1980s. Let's keep her at 25 shall we? Buy this classic pinup action figure of her Silk Spectre character together with her co-heroes now!

Natalie Portman Gives Your Eyes a Port of Call

Here is Natalie Portman, our Queen Amidala for a lot of Star Wars fans. The most revealing she ever got in the second trilogy was in the arena where bounty hunter Boba Fett watched his clone "father" get killed by jedi Mace Windu.

In that sequence, her tight-fitting white outfit gets ripped in "strategic" places in a manner that diverts the audience's attention from what's happening in the scenes. This is really a classic cliche in movies which never fails to get the attention of fans and critics alike. If it gets people talking, it's already a guarantee of free word-of-mouth advertising for the movie.

Well, it's George Lucas's decision to make this happen - an attempt to add some sexiness to a movie that's supposed to appeal to young people - which wasn't at all bad for the number of viewers who just went just to see that. It also makes for good merchandising sales.

Well, even without the director, Natalie Portman's appears to have no qualms about exposing parts of her anatomy through sheer or loose fabric for her adoring public. Perhaps that's why her parents think that there are lots of "devils" in Hollywood that are out to get her? But devils or not, they'll have to make do with her Star Wars action figures (below, with a pair of Padme figures) and Queen Amidala's bust. They definitely can't have the real Natalie Portman.

Natalie Portman is currently shooting her latest movie, Love and Impossible Pursuits. Find out why Natalie Portman was reportedly hiding from photographers on the set by watching a couple of videos on Hottest Hollywood Celebrity News.

Queen Amidala is all covered up here unlike in the Star Wars sequence where her outfit gets torn in an arena battle. But you can still find out what's underneath by buying her now!

Dancer and Actress Tracy Phillips Shines in Dark Streets

Tracy Phillips is a burlesque dancer and she's also an actress. Oh, and yeah, she's also got the looks. That's why she was the right choice for the movie Dark Streets together with Izabella Miko. Her dark hair and entrancing eyes will captivate viewers in the movie where she plays a 1930s foxy vamp.

Tracy Phillips is all that and more and her stage sequences and sexy acting performance in the movie never fail to get your heart racing. Her timid knee-hug picture here is just her way of giving the signal that she's ready to open up in a performance explosion you'll never forget.

Izabella Miko Shines in Dark Streets

Most of her fans know Izabella Miko from the movie Coyote Ugly, which is about a bunch of girls who run a night club with themselves as the customer lure. In the movie Dark Streets, she's also a performer, but it's a different kind of night club - more glitzy and stylized with an emphasis on burlesque - but with a dark shadow looming over it, ready to turn the lights out and plunge everything into painful blackness.

But is Izabella Miko ever going to let the shadows fall on her? Not likely, especially with her seethrough blouse she's wearing (top). Just looking at her clearly brightens things up for men and even a Dark Streets movie won't keep her from lighting up the stage or this post red with her good looks.

Rhona Mitra Takes on the Underworld

Rhona Mitra, famous for her model role as Lara Croft and her memorable part as the besieged showering girl in Hollow Man, now takes on the Underworld vampire series in the prequel called Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

Her role in this third of the cult series is as a classic Juliet-type character who falls for the wrong guy, and everybody in her family is up in arms against the relationship. Of course, in this movie, it's more than just arms. Fangs play a big part in the action and Mitra shows hers in this one.

While she doesn't show any fangs in these pictures, she still painfully sharp enough to give you a rise like what Lucian of the Lycans opts to do in the movie.

Joaquin Phoenix Immortalized Doing a James Dean

Gladiator actor, Joaquin Phoenix (doing a classic James Dean pose above), has announced his retirement from acting and his new focus on music. He starred as musician Johnny Cash in Walk the Line before and his portrayal of the true-to-life character seems to have rubbed into him. For that movie, he learned how to play the guitar and even sang with his own voice.

There's little doubt about Phoenix's acting talents, but the question is whether he'll be just as successful as a musician as he was an actor. Does he look worried on the picture on the left? Well, if music does not work well for him, he can always go back to doing movies.
