Jones and Madsen Join the "Prarie"
Tommy Lee Jones and Virginia Madsen are the latest cast additions to Robert Altman's A Prarie Home Companion, which just began filming last week in Minnesota. Prarie is based on Garrison Keillor's award-winning, widely syndicated show. In the reality bending plotline, the show is shut down after 30 years as an ensemble of performers, musicians and crew prepare for a final live broadcast where tensions run high and truths will be revealed. Jones is playing a "shadowy character" from the Texas conglom that has purchased the station while Madsen will play "a dangerous woman." The actors join a cast that includes Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Lindsay Lohan, Lily Tomlin, Maya Rudolph, Lyle Lovett, Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly. Jones earned two awards at Cannes for his upcoming The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada while Madsen will next be seen opposite Harrison Ford and Paul Bettany in The Wrong Element.
