Eminem Tops the Charts and Tours with Jay-Z!

Eminem’s first single “Not Afraid” from his soon to be released new album “Recovery” is already topping the charts at No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The rapper is the 16th artist in the chart’s history with a single that topped the chart in its debut week.

Another great news for Eminem is that he will headline a couple of concerts together with Jay-Z in New York and Detroit. Both cities represent the hometowns of Jay-Z and Eminem.

The dates which have been announced are September 2nd and September 13th. On September 2, Eminem will headline a show at Detroit's Comerica Park, joined by Jay-Z; on September 13, Jay-Z will headline at New York's Yankee Stadium.

"This is a once in a lifetime set of shows and I know we're both really going to bring it to our home towns" says Eminem. "I've always hoped that hip-hop could play any stadium like other genres of music," says Jay-Z, who is currently touring in support of 2009 album Blueprint 3. "Fun and historic, a great combination all around the board."

This won’t be the first time that these Rap Superstars will collaborate on stage. Eminem was featured on Jay-Z’s “Renegade”, of which he was also involved in producing parts of the track. They also collaborated on “Moments of Clarity”, “Izzo (H.OV.A.), and “My Name Is”.

The tickets aren’t on sale yet, however further details should be announced shortly.

Jay-Z Covers Interview Magazine

Jay-Z Interview Magazine
Jay-Z is on the cover of the February 2010 issue of Interview magazine and  discusses his love of music and how it has changed since he dropped his first album “Reasonable Doubt” 14 years ago, and the Kanye West and Taylor Swift incident at last year’s VMAs.
Read the article and watch more pictures here

Jay-Z insists he isn’t biased to his wife, but truly believed that Kanye was right, Beyonce should have received Video of the Year for "Single Ladies".

He says, [Kanye] believed that "Single Ladies" was a better video. I believed that. I think a lot of people believed that. You can’t give someone Video of the Year if they don’t win Best Female Video. I thought Best Female Video was something you won on the way to Video of the Year.”

He also loves Kanye’s ideas and impulse. “He’s an extraordinary person. He has these ideas and these things that he wants to do and places he wants to go, and he’s really passionate about them. He’s very sincere.”

Releasing his first album at 26 also gave him the maturity he needed to make it work. “Well, when I did my first album, I was 26, so I was a little more mature than a lot of other guys—you know, to a lot of the rappers’ credit, they’re making albums when they’re 17. I can’t imagine [the things] I would’ve said when I was 17. I can’t even tell you how reckless my thinking was at that age… "

New Jay-Z Video – On To The Next One

Jay-Z On To The Next One
On To The Next One” is Jay-Z’s newest single and video, released last night, very fitting for the switch to the new year and decade. The song was produced by Swizz-Beats and was officially released on Carson Daly’s New Year’s Countdown.

The black and white video has a dark theme, some scary images, but all in all could be considered to be an artistic video. After all, 2009 showed that shocking out of the ordinary videos do work.

Check it out for yourselves, and don’t hesitate to leave your comments.

Jay-Z remakes “Forever Young”

Blueprint_3
Jay-Z and his protege Mr. Hudson collaborated on his latest single “Forever Young” from “The Blueprint 3”. The song comes originally from popular 80s band Alphaville. Mr. Hudson’s voice does come in very close to the original band’s lead singer.

There’s a lot more coming from Jay-Z right on time for New Year’s eve. “On to the Next One” feat. Swizz Beatz is set to be released as his new single at NBC’s “New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly”. The video will also first be shown there. Jay-Z is set to perform with Rihanna on Carson Daly.

On other Jay-Z news, he is reportedly going to take his wife’s name. He will soon be called Shawn Knowles-Carter.

“They want to keep Knowles because Beyonce’s parents didn’t have any sons and they’re keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don’t produce any children themselves,” a source said.

I must say that’s a very classy move from Jay-Z!
